The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby
By Sandor Hugert

This book was quite entertaining, but somehow I found the book a little too boring for my taste. The story line was great, and quite unexpected. It was full of interesting twists and turns as the story unfolded. I thought that it was just a little weird how there was really not much happening in the first six chapters of the book, and the last three chapters were full of unexpected turns, and full of intense action. The characters were really well done as they all had some really interesting characteristics, and the author did a great job to make the last few chapters very dramatic as he got the readers to actually understand these characters and even have feelings for them. I’d say that just about everything in the book was very well described, and it gave me a great picture in my head of the whole city where they lived and worked. Gatsby himself was a great character that was indirectly characterized many times in the book by other characters. He was a great mysterious character that we really didn’t find out too much about him until like halfway through the book. Overall, it was a great book, but it was just a little too boring at times.

Eragon Book Review

Book- Eragon

I found myself skimming over my summer reading these past couple of days and I realized that it wasn’t going to be the most exciting thing to do. So I decided to make a trip to the Barnes and Nobel across the street from my house and look for something a bit more medieval. As I entered the bookstore a tear of light began to catch my eye. And as any interested person would, I walked over there to see what nature had highlighted for me. I picked up the book called Eragon, by Christopher Paolini. It looked like a fairly good Dark Ages styled book with the cover decorated with the bust of a dragon on the front so I bought it. Little did I know, there was more Mystique to the book than I initially thought.

So I began my journey through the mysterious land of Alagaesia and met the characters of the book, Eragon, a Farm boy living with his uncle Garrow and his stepbrother Roran. As the book progressed the young Eragon finds a rather large powder blue egg while hunting in a dangerous place called “ the spine”. Things begin to heat up after that.

As the book enveloped me with a sense of wonder as I turned the pages, there came a point at which I didn’t want it to end. When Eragon learns of an organization called The Riders, that where determined to fight against the evil Empire a common good vs. evil battle surfaces.
Many things that I didn’t expect came into light as I read through the first of the Eragon Trilogy. Many plot twists, as well as a beautiful sense of imagery, diction and even irony. But as more of the wonderful things came to pass, there where even some more intriguing and fascinating mystical things that were a pleasure to discover. So my suggestion to you all would be to take a trek to you local bookstore, (if you already haven’t) and check out the phenomenon that is the story of Eragon. 5 out of 5
